Bodymax Oxbridge HR Folding Air Rowing Machine Review

The Bodymax Oxbridge is a folding air rowing machine that’s perfect for a smaller home, basement or apartment. If you have been holding off on buying a rower because you simply don’t have the space, this is the right model for you.

The Oxbridge HR comes with a variety of features, including:

  • Built-in heart rate receiver
  • Eight levels of air resistance
  • Aluminum seat rail
  • Transport wheels
  • LCD monitor
  • Maximum user weight of 115 kg

We’ve had the pleasure of testing this model out for our Bodymax Oxbridge HR folding air rowing machine review. While it’s not perfect in every way, it is an affordable option that will provide you with an intense exercise session, and folds neatly away in the corner when you’re done with your exercise.

The Oxbridge HR eliminates the excuses to get healthy in the comfort of your own home.

When this model first arrived, we were surprised by how lightweight it was – just 36 kg. Assembly was a breeze, and there were very few adjustments that needed to be made. The aluminum seat allows for full range of motion, and the seat folds up for easy storage when you’re done.

The foot rests are large enough to fit even the widest of feet, and the straps keep your feet perfectly in place during your rowing session.

When you first give this model a test drive, you’ll want to place the batteries into the LCD display and begin your rowing session. The handlebars are perfectly positioned, and the movement is smooth and rather quiet. You will hear the swishing of air as you continue to row, but this is not something that can avoid with an air rower.

Tension control is provided right below the handlebars, and is sufficient for beginners and advanced fitness users alike. Tension ranges from one (the lowest tension) to eight (the hardest tension). I recommend starting out at the lowest tension setting, and slowly increasing it to find a comfortable setting for your fitness level.

The LCD display provides you with information about your:

  • Speed
  • Time
  • Calories burned
  • Heart rate

Your heart rate is calculated using a wireless chest strap that is optional. If you’re going to try to lose weight or increase your stamina, you want to be able to monitor your heart rate to ensure that you’re keeping your heart rate elevated during your workout. This is the perfect way to measure the intensity of your workout, and since it’s wireless, you don’t have to worry about keeping your fingers right on a sensor the entire time you’re working out.

Pros

  • 8 tension levels are perfect for users of all levels
  • Transport wheels make it easy to fold and move this rowing machine
  • Quiet design allows for any-time usage

Cons

  • LCD display batteries die quickly
The only complaint we have with this rower is that the LCD batteries have a tendency to die quickly. And the batteries that are included by the manufacturer were near dead on arrival. We decided to put in new batteries, and they worked well.

This is the perfect beginner air rower with features that even advanced rowers will love.

It’s small, compact and durable. It’s everything you want in a home rower at a price that you can afford.
