Kettler Stroker Review

With 8 levels of resistance, a space-saving design and an affordable price, the Kettler Stroker is a smart choice for rowing enthusiasts. It boasts a 4kg flywheel, convenient LCD display and the ability to track your heart rate through a third-party ear clip. For beginner and intermediate rowers, this is one of the top rowing machine picks.

    Features at a Glance

    • 8 levels of magnetic resistance
    • 4kg flywheel
    • Single-handle rowing design
    • LCD display
    • Transport wheels
    • Max user weight: 130kg
    • Dimensions: 218cm long, 60cm wide and 98cm tall
    • 3-year parts and labour warranty
    • Folds up for easy storage
    • Pivoting footplates

This is a magnetic resistance machine with eight stages of manual resistance and a 4kg flywheel. Like others, this uses a single-handle design. Resistance levels can easily be changed via the knob under the rowing handle.

    console

The advanced LCD displays: time 500/m, strokes, pulse (if ear clip is used), distance and calories burned.

The keypad is sweat-resistant, too, so you can easily cycle through your workout stats even during intense workouts. It does let you monitor your heart rate, but only via an ear clip, which is not included.

    folded up

Equipped with pivoting footplates, it is comfortable to use, and can accommodate people of all heights. The seat is contoured for added comfort, and rowing is very smooth.

It also features transport wheels and a collapsible, space-saving design. When you’re finished with your workout, simply fold the rowing rail up toward the flywheel and roll into the corner of the room.

    Assembly

The machine does weigh 40kg, so you may need a second pair of hands to roll it into a closet or the corner.

We were pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to put this unit together. One person can easily put it together, but you may need some help unpacking the box.

If you plan on assembling this on your own, consider doing it in the area you plan on using it. Assembly is simple and straightforward, and shouldn’t take long.

    Pros

    • 8 resistance levels for intense workouts.
    • Foldable design and transport wheels save on space.
    • Your purchase is protected by a three-year parts and labour warranty.
    • Pivoting footplates and contoured seat allow for comfortable rowing no matter your height.
    • Easy assembly.

    Cons

    • No heart rate sensor
    • LCD display leaves a lot to be desired

While not a major issue, we were a little disappointed that it didn’t come with a pulse sensor. To track your heart rate, you’ll need to purchase a third party ear clip.

The LCD display is also disappointing. The stats can be confusing to read at times, and the display is not backlit.

Aside from this minor gripe, this is a well-designed machine that offers a great workout for beginner to intermediate users.

Advanced users may find that this machine doesn’t offer enough resistance to get a challenging workout, but it can help most users improve their fitness level and cardiovascular health.
